Dr. Kimberly Licato
Principal
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal and educational leader of Guggenheim Elementary School. I attended the University of Delaware for both my bachelors and master’s degree and received my administrative certificate from Queens College. In 2016, I received my doctoral degree from St. John’s University. I had the unique opportunity to visit the world-renowned Finnish schools as part of my dissertation process, which shaped me not only as an individual, but also as an educator and administrator. I have presented information germane to my dissertation and experiences in Finland at various administrative conferences. The “whole child” approach to education I observed while studying the Finnish schools is something I believe in whole-heartedly. I constantly strive to consider the child’s best interest in every decision I make throughout the academic year.
In addition, I have over twenty years of public school experience as an educator as well as administrator. I have spent several year as both an Assistant Principal in grades K-8 as well as a district director for world languages and ENL. Additionally, I come from a family of educators who have exposed me to this profession my entire life.
I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to continuing my journey as an educator and working with the Guggenheim Elementary School community for years to come! I look forward to my continued work with the staff, students and community here in the Port Washington School District.
