Guggenheim Elementary School FAQ


Q: What is the start and end time of the academic day?:

A:  The drop-off begins at 8:00AM for parent drop-offs and students dismiss at the end of the day at 2:35 PM.


Q: What are the arrival & dismissal procedures?

A: Parent drop off is in the front of the building and buses drop off on the side of the building in the morning. During the dismissal process, students who are considered walkers are dismissed on the side of the building while students who ride the bus, board the bus in the front of the building.  


Q: Who do I call if there is a bus related issue? 

A: For any bus related questions, you can contact Robin Allen, the Director of Transportation, at 516-767-5032. 


Q: Who do I contact if my child will be late or absent? 

A: Parents must call the attendance line at Guggenheim at (516) 767-5261 to report an absence or lateness no later than 9:00 am . Please leave a message if there is no answer indicating the reason for the absence or lateness. 


Q: Who do I contact if I need to pick my child up early from school? 

A: Please email the classroom teacher directly. Should there be any last minute changes, please call the Main Office by 1:30PM.  


Q: How does my child notify me if they forget an item they need at home? How do I drop off an item that my child forgot? 

A: If a child forgets an item they need for the school day, they can come to the main office to call home for the item. If the parent is willing and able to drop off the item, they bring it to the front desk and the item is given to the child.


Q: Where is the lost and found located?

A: These items are located in the hallway near the cafetorium. 


Q: Where is the visitor’s entrance?

A: All visitors should enter through the main entrance of the school building. A Valid ID will be needed to enter the building. 


Q: Who do I call if my child is having difficulty with another student? 

A: Please email the classroom teacher and Dr. Licato with specifics.


Q: Who do I call if I have an academic concern about my child? 

A: Please email the classroom teacher directly.


Q: How do I set up a meeting with my child’s teacher? 

A: Please email the classroom teacher directly.


Q: What student and family support services are offered?

A: Our Guidance Counselor can be contacted at [email protected] (Arzu Alkan). Our school psychologist is Dr. Gia Campagna and can be contacted at [email protected].

Q: What clubs/ activities are offered to students? 

A: Activities vary from year to year based on grants and funding. This year we will be having the following activities:

  • Chess Club
