December 2024
Dear Parent/Guardian:
In compliance with the Commissioner of Education Regulations for the School Emergency Management Plan, the Port Washington School District must schedule an annual test of the early dismissal plan.
On Thursday, December 19, 2024, pupils will be released 15 minutes earlier than their normally scheduled time. The times for dismissal on this date, Thursday, December 19th will be as follows:
PRE-K at Daly | 1:45 p.m. |
DALY | 2:05 p.m. |
GUGGENHEIM and MANORHAVEN | 2:20 p.m. |
SALEM and SOUSA | 2:40 p.m. |
SCHREIBER HIGH SCHOOL | 2:50 p.m. |
WEBER MIDDLE SCHOOL | 2:55 p.m. |
School buses will complete their usual routes but at the earlier time if your child walks; he/she will be released 15 minutes earlier. If you pick up your child, please arrange for this earlier pick up. The class times will remain the same.
During this phase of the Emergency Management Plan, principals and teachers will discuss the appropriate actions necessary during any type of emergency in our buildings or surrounding areas. This would be a good opportunity for parents to discuss this type of variation from routines or emergencies which you can prepare your child to handle appropriately. Finally, all other after-school activities will remain in place with appropriate staff available 15 minutes earlier and the activities will end at the usual times.
Thank you for your assistance in practicing this annual test of early dismissal, and if you have any questions, you may contact the principal’s office or Robin Moura, Transportation Supervisor at (516) 767-5680.
Sincerely,
Kathleen A. Manuel
Assistant Superintendent for Business
