Guggenheim Elementary School welcomed alumna Nicole Zeitzer Johnson back to share her inspiring story, Joyfully Josie, with students. The book is based on the experiences of Nicole’s daughter, Josie, who lives with the rare FOXG1 syndrome. Joyfully Josie highlights themes of resilience, joy, and inclusivity, helping children understand differences while celebrating kindness and compassion.
Nicole's visit coincided with the school’s Unity Week, which is dedicated to teaching students the values of inclusivity, compassion, and awareness. The event was especially meaningful as Nicole and her son Tanner—both Guggenheim alumni—returned to inspire a new generation of students. The assembly was generously supported by the Guggenheim HSA and aligned perfectly with Guggenheim's 2024 theme, One World, Many Stories.
In addition to the assembly, Nicole will be featured at Guggenheim’s book fair next week, where students and families can explore Joyfully Josie and other wonderful stories.
